This antique hand fan, dating to the early 20th century, is a charming and well-preserved example of romantic decorative accessories from the Belle Époque era. The sticks are made of black wood, with embossed cover sticks featuring a delicate pattern, while the inner sticks are finely sawn, showcasing the craftsmanship typical of antique European fans.
The fan leaf presents a printed motif of a flower seller offering a bouquet to a couple in love, evoking the sentimental themes popular in turn-of-the-century art. The reverse side is backed with glazed cotton, adding durability and a subtle sheen.
In good condition, the fan shows discreet signs of age and wear, with the bow missing, but all structural elements intact. When opened, it measures approx. 60 cm in width, with a guard length of 32 cm.
This rare romantic printed fan is ideal for collectors of antique fans, Edwardian accessories, or museum-quality decorative arts, offering a poetic glimpse into the elegance and storytelling of early 1900s fashion culture.
